Wolfgang Tschacher è nato a Stoccarda, in Germania, ha studiato psicologia all’Università di Tubinga dove ha ricevuto il suo dottorato di ricerca nel 1990. Psicoterapeuta sistemico ha studiato presso l’Institute of Family Therapy, Monaco di Baviera. Abilitato all’insegnamento nel 1996 presso l’Università di Berna, Svizzera, dove diventa professore nel 2002.
Attualmente lavora presso l’ospedale universitario di psichiatria e psicoterapia a Berna, dove ha fondato il dipartimento di ricerca in psicoterapia, e al FRIAS (Freiburg Institute for Studi avanzati) presso l’università di Friburgo, in Germania.
I suoi interessi principali sono la ricerca quantitativa in psicoterapia, serie temporali, metodi e psicopatologia sperimentale, con particolare attenzione
sistemi dinamici, scienza della complessità, cognizione incarnata e
fenomeni di auto-organizzazione cognitiva.
Ex presidente europeo della Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR).

Wolfgang Tschacher born in Stuttgart, Germany, studied psychology at Tübingen University where he received his Ph.D. in 1990. Psychotherapy training in systemic therapy at the Institute of Family Therapy, Munich. Habilitation in psychology and Venia legendi 1996 at University of Bern, Switzerland, professorship in 2002.
He currently works at the University Hospital of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Bern, where he founded the department of psychotherapy research, and at the FRIAS (Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies) at the university of Freiburg, Germany.
His main interests are in quantitative psychotherapy research, time-series methods and experimental psychopathology, with an emphasis on dynamical systems, complexity science, embodied cognition, and phenomena of cognitive self-organization. Former president of the European chapter of the Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR).
Member of the board of directors of the Society for Mind-Matter Research. Organizer of the series of “Herbstakademie” conferences on systems
